Delighted to join the “Transatlantic Dialogue on Copyright and the Court of Justice of the European Union” organized by the Emily C. and John E. Hansen IP Institute at Fordham Law School . This event promises an in-depth exploration of the dynamic field of US and EU copyright law and its broad implications, from platform liability to the impacts of the EU’s innovative tech laws like the Digital Services Act and the AI Act.

Looking forward to a rich discussion with Hugh Hansen, Robert Arcamona, Jane Ginsburg, William Patry, and Eleonora Rosati. Additionally, we’ll be celebrating the accolade of Eleonora’s book, “Copyright and the Court of Justice of the European Union (Second Edition),” which was recently voted the “Best Copyright Book” of 2023 by The IPKat’s readers.

Bengaluru is the home of India’s tech giants. World IP Forum (WIPF) was more than an event; it was an experience that reinforced my belief in the importance of collaborating with new and existing partners. Referencing the World Economic Forum happening this week, I spoke about AI governance in the context of the governance of rights, governance of access, and governance models in the US, EU, China, and Singapore and what we could learn from each other.

Now in its 12th edition, the WIPF attracted over 800 registrants globally. Congratulations to its co-founders, Jeet Agarwal and Navin Agarwal! Congratulations also to Scott Frank for receiving the Forum’s ‘Stalwart and Icon’ award. Among his many hats, Scott is the founder of the United States Intellectual Property Alliance – USIPA, President and CEO of AT&T Intellectual Property and serves on our advisory board at Penn State Dickinson Law’s IP and Innovation Initiative.

Bengaluru is also the home of India’s top law school, National Law School of India University. A thank you to Dr. Nigam Nuggehalli, his faculty colleagues, and students for their hospitality during my visit. I was also pleased to connect with members of the Alliance University and Christ University, Bangalore legal community. Looking forward to developing new avenues for collaboration.

While there, I was able to join some WIPF delegates to enjoy the natural beauty of the Lalbagh Botanical Garden and learn more about the Art of Living’s impressive global impact at its international headquarters in Bengaluru.
