Valedictory Letter for IP Law Fellow Kyle Serilla

Today I sent a valedictory letter to Kyle Serilla, our inaugural IP Law Fellow. Kyle is completing his tenure with us this month and will be moving on to the next chapter of his career shortly.

The IP Center designed this nationally competitive position to strengthen our programs, mentor our law students, acquire valuable skills and experiences, meet leaders in the field, and more.

Kyle joined us in 2018 after graduating from Chicago-Kent College of Law, taking on a challenging job. He worked closely with me and, for a short time, Bill McGrath, who not long after he joined relinquished his position as Associate Director to focus on his practice and time with his family. Bill did an admirable job mentoring him.

One of Kyle’s most significant and lasting contributions was selecting an able successor, a task that required us to do a national search. I appointed Kyle Chair of the committee. The search was a success. In his final weeks with the IP Center, Kyle has been diligently mentoring his successor. Kyle has also agreed to continue to be available to advise him on the issues he handled as an IP Law Fellow and to share his experience and wisdom with him.

On this note, we welcome Adam Ernette who joins us as our incoming IP Law Fellow. We will profile Adam in our upcoming Center newsletter and you may hear more from Adam directly in time to come, particularly at our events. In the meantime, here is his profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/adam-ernette-b999a16b/.

Let me close by noting that Kyle’s sincerity, thoughtfulness, and work ethic came through in all his work. On behalf of all the IP Center’s partners, students, adjuncts, alumni, and friends, I thank Kyle for all that he has done and wish him all the best for his career and all his future endeavors.
