IU Bloomington
Loved IU (Bloomington) Maurer School of Law’s framed pictures of students and faculty, emphasizing the fact that individuals count. Notice also how the faculty portrait encapsulates the uniqueness of each law professor who taught there.
Visited the Lilly Library, an important rare book and manuscript library founded in 1960 with the collection of Josiah K. Lilly, Jr., the then owner of Lilly Pharmaceuticals (now Eli Lilly). The company was founded in 1876 by, and named after his grandfather, Col. Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical chemist and veteran of the American Civil War. In addition to a collection of miniature books the library houses one of ten Gutenberg Bibles in the U.S. It also has an excellent collection of books by and about Lincoln. Notable was a volume titled “Tributes of the Nations to Abraham Lincoln,” which reflected an extraordinary level of respect the world had for the 16th President of the United States.
