Penn State | Capital Group

Delighted to join colleagues from across Penn State for a meeting of the new Penn State Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS) Capital Group, bringing together faculty from Penn State Harrisburg, the Penn State College of Medicine, Penn State Dickinson Law, and ICDS.

The initiative strengthens collaboration across our campuses by connecting expertise, research infrastructure, and external partnerships around AI and data science. It creates new pathways for interdisciplinary research, competitive grant proposals, curriculum innovation, student engagement, and deeper partnerships with industry. Dickinson Law brings complementary strengths in law, policy, and governance alongside work in computing, health, engineering, and other fields.

This is the kind of cross-disciplinary collaboration that can expand both the reach and impact of Penn State research across the Commonwealth.

It was also my first visit to Penn State Harrisburg’s beautiful campus. I was moved to see the student-organized memorial, with flags planted across campus to remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
