EXNW | AI, Law, and the Future of Global Film, TV and Media

[Speaking on AI, Law & Global Media at EXNW 2025]

I had the honor of speaking at EXNW 2025 in Vancouver, Canada, in a featured session titled “AI, Law, and the Future of Global Film, TV and Media” alongside Canadian MP Taleeb Noormohamed, Parliamentary Secretary for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation.

Our session examined the legal, ethical, and policy challenges presented by generative AI in the media, encompassing issues of authorship and copyright, cultural sovereignty, and the governance of deepfakes. These are pressing issues with transnational implications, and it was a privilege to contribute to the ongoing dialogue that is shaping the future of law, technology, and the creative industries.

The conversation drew on my broader scholarship in AI regulation and my commitment to public engagement on emerging technologies. I’m especially grateful to Barbara Lee, Hanna Cho, and the EXNW team. It’s an extraordinary platform that brings together leaders from government, tech, and the arts to inspire the next generation of storytellers and content creators.
