The Doctrine of Equivalents @ McAndrew, Held & Malloy

Delighted to join attorneys at McAndrews, Held & Malloy for a lively lunchtime discussion of my recent empirical study on the patent law doctrine of equivalents.

The attorneys gathered shared insightful questions and comments on their experience with the doctrine in practice. These perspectives are hard to come by, and the final version of the paper will feature some of these insights. I was also encouraged to hear how data from the study validated conventional wisdom the attorneys held in some instances while debunking others.

Exchanges like these between practicing attorneys and academics help make practice and scholarship more rounded, and the people we meet in the process make our work more interesting.
